Implementation of the Jean Monet Module grant project

In March - June 2024, within the framework of the EU grant project 101126964 - EULPS (Jean Monnet Modules), Doctor of Law, Professor, Leading Researcher at the Department of International Law and European Union Law of the V.M. V. Koretskyi Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Liudmyla Falalieieva and PhD in Law, Senior Researcher at the Department of International Law and European Union Law of the V. M. Koretskyi Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Bohdan Strilets held classes on the specialised course "European Union Law: Modern Problems of Theory and Practice".

This grant project aims to support the development of academic programmes aimed at deepening postgraduate students' knowledge of EU law, current issues and trends in its development. The beneficiary of the project is V.M. Koretskyi Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.The specialised course "European Union Law: Modern Problems of Theory and Practice" covers, in particular, the following topics: theories of European integration in evolutionary development, sources of EU law and their implementation in the internal legal order of the Member States, EU values and principles of EU law, EU supranationality, functions and powers of EU institutions, legal basis of the EU internal market, legal aspects of free movement of persons, peculiarities of protection of fundamental rights in the EU, practice of extraterritorial application of EU law, evolution and problems of legal regulation of Ukraine-EU relations.

On 28 June 2024, the first stage (year) of the project was completed. The course was attended by 121 postgraduate students studying in the following specialities: 293 "International Law", 081 "Law", 281 "Public Management and Administration", 052 "Political Science". The course was taught over two semesters:

• 1 semester - from 1 March to 30 April 2024;

• 2nd semester - from 1 May to 30 June 2024.

At the end of each of these semesters, postgraduate students studying in the specialty 293 "International Law" took an exam, and postgraduate students studying in the specialties 081 "Law", 281 "Public Administration and Management", 052 "Political Science" passed a formative assessment in the specialised course "European Union Law: Modern Problems of Theory and Practice" / "European Union Law: Modern Problems of Theory and Practice".

On July 4, 2024, the Director of the Institute, Academician, Vice-President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine O. Skrypniuk awarded certificates to postgraduate students who successfully completed the course "European Union Law: Modern Problems of Theory and Practice" / "European Union Law: Modern Problems of Theory and Practice" within the framework of the EU Law Postgraduate Studies (EULPS) project under the grant agreement 101126964–EULPS–ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH. On 4 November 2024, the Director of the Institute, Academician, Vice-President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Skrypniuk will present certificates to postgraduate students who, for various reasons, were unable to receive them on 4 July this year.

On 4-6 November 2024, within the framework of the EU grant project "EU Law Postgraduate Studies (EULPS)" №101126964 - EULPS-ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH, an international scientific and practical conference "“Integration of Ukraine into the EU: Challenges of Wartime. In memory of Professor P. P. Zavorotko and Professor V. N. Denysov" (at the premises of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 4, Trykhsvyatytelska Street, Kyiv).

The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth and 40th anniversary of the passing of Professor Pavlo Petrovych Zavorotko, a prominent Ukrainian legal scholar, one of the most famous proceduralists of his time, Dean of the Law Faculty (1961-1974) of the Taras Shevchenko State University of Kyiv (now Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), and Ukraine's representative to the United Nations.

This year marks the anniversary of the passing of Professor Volodymyr Denysov, a renowned Ukrainian legal scholar, international lawyer, expert in the field of European Union law and founder of national comparative law, an outstanding organiser and unsurpassed coryphaeus of Ukrainian international law, who is world renowned. An international scientific and practical conference with the participation of Ukrainian and Czech scientists, politicians, diplomats, practicing lawyers, postgraduate students and everyone else is dedicated to the bright memory of these outstanding scientists.
