KRESINA Iryna Oleksiivna — leading researcher of the Sector of Legal Problems of Political Science, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Political Sciences.

Graduated from T. G. Shevchenko Kyiv State University (now Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University) with a degree in «philology» (1974), postgraduate studies with a degree in «philosophy» (1990), and doctoral studies (1998) with a degree in «political science».

In 1990, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philosophical Sciences on the topic: «Overcoming the Remnants of the Past in the Consciousness and Behavior of People in the Conditions of the Renewal of Socialism» (specialty 09.00.02 — dialectics and methodology of cognition). In 1999, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Political Sciences on the topic: «Ukrainian National Consciousness in the Context of Modern Political Processes" (specialty 23.00.05 — ethnopolitical science and ethnopolitical science). In 2001, she was awarded the academic title of Professor.

The main areas of scientific research are: problems of state building, development of political and legal systems, constitutional and judicial reforms, protection of human rights and national minorities, administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine, reform of public authorities, state ethno-national policy, development of civil society, strategic directions of political and legal development of Ukraine, international legal aspects of de-occupation and reintegration of temporarily occupied territories.

Founder of the Ukrainian school of legal political science, which studies the political and legal foundations of state-building, socio-political processes.

Under her supervision, 51 doctoral and candidate theses in political (1– PhD) and legal sciences have been defended.

Chairman of the specialized academic council D 26.236.01 for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Political Sciences at the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine.

Member of the editorial board of the collection of scientific works «State and Law» on legal and political science specialties, deputy editor-in-chief of the professional scientific journal «Court Appeal» (until 2017). Member of the editorial boards of scientific collections and journals «Právova dráha», «Právní-lých súdky», «Political management», «Elections and democracy», «Political and sociological studies», «Almanach prava», «Sociological processes».

During 2006-2010 - member of the Council of Europe Committee for the Protection of National Minorities, member of the Council for Ethno-National Policy under the President of Ukraine, in 2007-2010 - member of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Combating Xenophobia, Interethnic and Racial Intolerance, in 2008-2010, member of the working groups on the preparation of the annual Addresses of the President of Ukraine to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "On the internal and external situation of Ukraine", in 2021-2022, member of the working group on the preparation of legislation on national minorities of the Committee on Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Member of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on Philosophical and Political Sciences (until 2022). Member of the Standing Commission on Scientific Areas at the Section of Social Sciences and Humanities of the NAS of Ukraine. Member of the Standing Commission on the Evaluation of Scientific Institutions of the NAS of Ukraine.
