KVASHA Oksana Oleksandrivna — Leading Researcher of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Judicial System, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.
In 1996, she graduated from Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, with a specialty in «Jurisprudence». In 1999, she — completed postgraduate studies at the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
After graduating from university, she worked as an intern at the Kyiv Environmental Prosecutor's Office.
Since 1996, she has been working at the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine. From 2004 to 2022 — in the positions of junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, leading researcher of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Judicial Problems.
From 2022 to 2023 — Scientific Secretary of the Institute.
From November 2023 to the present — Leading Researcher of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Judicial Problems (now the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology) of the Institute (part-time).
Member of the High Council of Justice — from November 2023 to the present.
In 1999, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Law on the topic: «Organizer of Crime: Criminal Law and Criminological Research». Awarded the academic title of Senior Researcher in the specialty 12.00.08 – «Criminal law and criminology; criminal enforcement law» (2006). Awarded the academic title of Associate Professor at the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure (2011).
In 2013, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Law on the topic: «Complicity in Crime: Essence, Structure, and Responsibility». Awarded the academic title of Professor in the specialty 12.00.08 — «Criminal law and criminology; criminal enforcement law» (2016).
The main areas of scientific activity are problems of criminal law and criminology. Considerable attention is paid to the study of the following problems: principles of criminal law; complicity in a criminal offense; combating corruption and organized crime; criminal-legal protection of justice; criminal-legal protection of national and state security of Ukraine; necessary defense and other circumstances that exclude the criminal illegality of the act, etc.
Published about 300 scientific works, including: two individual monographs: «Organizer of a crime. Criminal law and criminological research» (2003), «Complicity in a crime: structure and responsibility» (2013); three co-authored monographs: «Imaginary defense: criminal law qualification and responsibility» (2012), «Perpetrator of a crime in the structure of complicity» (2015), «Necessary Defense (Protection from Encroachment on Sexual Freedom and Sexual Integrity of the Person) (2016); chapters in 8 collective monographs.
Teaching work (part-time): Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (associate professor, professor, head of the department of sectoral legal sciences) (2000—2018). Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (professor of the department of criminal law and criminology) (2019—2021). Kyiv Institute of Intellectual Property and Law of the National University «Odesa Law Academy (Professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Procedure and Criminology) (2017—2023).
