SIMUTINA Yana Volodymyrivna — leading researcher of the Department of Civil Law, legal scholar, researcher of labor law and social protection law, Doctor of Laws (2019), Professor (2022).

In 1996, she graduated from the Lyceum «Naukova Zmyna» in Kyiv with honors, receiving a Gold Medal. She received her higher education from the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and in 2001 she received a Master of Laws degree with honors.

From 2001 to 2010, she worked at the Department of Civil and Labor Law of the Kyiv University of Law of the NAS of Ukraine as an assistant, lecturer, and associate professor. Since December 2010, he has been working at the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine in the Department of Problems of Civil, Labor and Business Law in the positions of: Senior Research Fellow (2010—2019), Leading Research Fellow (since 2019). From 2013 to 2019, she performed the duties of the deputy head of the department on a voluntary basis. From 2014 to 2016 — scientific secretary of the specialized academic council D 236.26.04 of the Institute for the defense of dissertations in special. 12.00.05 — labor law; social security law. Part-time lecturer at the Kyiv University of Law of the NAS of Ukraine (2014); the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine (2014—2019); NTU «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» (2021—2023).

In 2007, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Law on the topic: «Wage Regulation Methods at the Present Stage (Legal Problems)» (supervisor, Prof. N.M. Khutoryan).

In 2019, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Law on the topic: «Legal facts in the mechanism of legal regulation of labor relations» (scientific consultant, Prof. N.M. Khutoryan).

The academic title of Senior Researcher was awarded in 2013, the academic title of Professor in 2022.

She is the author of over 130 scientific works, including monographs, scientific articles in leading professional journals in Ukraine and other countries, chapters in textbooks, manuals, and a number of definition articles in legal encyclopedic dictionaries. Main works: individual monographs: «Methods of wage regulation at the present stage (legal problems)» (Kyiv, 2009), «Legal facts in the mechanism of legal regulation of labor relations» (Kyiv, 2018); collective monographs: « Codification of Labor Legislation of Ukraine» (Kharkiv, 2009), «Pension Legal Relations in Ukraine» (Kyiv, 2013), «Problems of Application of Labor and Pension Legislation» (Kyiv, 2015), «Legal Problems of Labor and Pension Legislation of Ukraine in the Context of European Integration» (Kyiv, 2017), «Implementation of Labor Law Norms: Problems of Theory and Practice» (Kyiv, 2020), «Legal Regulation of the Economic System: Institutions, Rules, Procedures» (Odesa, 2021), «Social and Labor Rights and Challenges of Digitalization» (Kyiv, 2023).

Under her scientific supervision, dissertations were defended by O. Volokhov (2012), T. Fartushko (2015) for the degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences; L. Kupina for the degree of Doctor of Legal Sciences (2020).

Since 2020, she has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Council at the Supreme Court. As a national expert, she is involved in Council of Europe projects in Ukraine related to the development and protection of social rights. She actively participates in legislative activities, in particular, she is a member of the working group on the preparation and finalization of the draft Labor Code of Ukraine.

In 2019, she was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Fellow of the British Academy of Sciences and CARA under the program «Researchers at Risk». Since September 2022, she has been a visiting professor at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom.
