The head of the Center for Local Self-Government at the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine is Batanov Oleksandr Vasilyevich.

Batanov O. V. — Doctor of Law, Senior Researcher at the Institute, dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Law «Functions of Territorial Communities as Subjects of Local Self-Government in Ukraine» (2000). In 2011, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Law on the topic: «Municipal Government in Ukraine: Constitutional and Legal Problems of Theory and Practice».
