International Conference «HELP in University Education: European Standards in the Field of Human Rights for Future Professionals»
On November 26, 2025, the International Conference «HELP in University Education: European Standards in the Field of Human Rights for Future Specialists» (Lviv) took place, bringing together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Council of Europe, scientific institutions and universities, and national training institutions.
The event was dedicated to two important anniversaries — 75th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in 1950 and the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's accession to the Council of Europe.
The following actively participated from the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine: Leading Researcher of the Department of International Law and Law of the European Union, Doctor of Law, Professor Nataliya Kaminska; Leading Researcher of the Department of Public Administration and Administrative Law, Doctor of Law, Professor Dmytro Bezzubov; Head of the Sector of Legal Problems of Political Institutions and Processes, Doctor of Political Sciences Oksana Kukuruz.
The participants discussed:
development of cooperation within the framework of the HELP and OCEAN programs of the Council of Europe;
integration of HELP courses into the curricula of Ukrainian higher education institutions, scientific institutions, presented the Implementation Strategy and the results of the all-Ukrainian survey;
use of HELP in the training of judges, prosecutors and lawyers;
key challenges in the field of human rights, the rule of law and democracy in wartime, including issues of academic integrity and ethical use of AI; practical exchange of experience and planning of further steps.
The event became an important platform for strengthening legal education in Ukraine, expanding cooperation with the Council of Europe in the field of human rights.
