KRESIN Oleksii Veniaminovych is a leading researcher at the Department of International Law and European Union Law, Head of the Center for Comparative Law, Doctor of Law, Professor.
Dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Law on the topic: «Political and Legal Heritage of Ukrainian Emigration in the First Half of the 18th Century» (2001, dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Law on the topic: «Formation of Theoretical Foundations of Comparative Legal Studies in the Second Half of the 18th — First Third of the 19th Century: Comparative Conceptualization» (2017).
In 1992-1997 he studied at Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, and in 1997-2000 he completed postgraduate studies at the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Since 1994 he has been working at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2010 he has headed the Center for Comparative Law of the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Since 2004 - Senior Researcher at the Department of International Law and Comparative Law of the V. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and since 2018 - Leading Researcher.
Research interests: comparative law, history of state and law, history of political and legal doctrines, law of the Council of Europe.
Has 517 scientific publications, including over 25 books and brochures individually and in co-authorship, is the editor of over 30 publications, the scientific editor of over 30 publications. In addition, he has over 70 publications of a journalistic and popular science nature in periodicals, is the author or co-author of 37 translations of scientific works from English. He has made over 140 appearances at scientific conferences, over 20 appearances on television and radio, and is the organizer of a number of conferences and seminars.
Under his scientific supervision, 1 PhD thesis was defended.
Member of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance since 2013. President of the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Association of Legal Sciences since 2012. Coordinator of the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Academy of Comparative Law since 2012. Founder and Scientific Secretary of the Ukrainian Association of Comparative Law since 2006.
