On May 15, Ukrinform hosted a discussion on the topic: «PRO Consultation "Sanctions 2025: You Can't Imprison Yourself"» initiated and moderated by the Chairman of the AAU Committee on Judicial Practice — Oleg Malinevsky.

This event brought together leading legal experts, scholars, and lawyers who openly and impartially discussed one of the most pressing topics in the modern legal field - the application of sanctions in Ukraine.

Among the invited scientists and experts, Doctor of Law, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Law and Humanities of Ukraine, Director of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Vice-President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Skrypnyukand Doctor of Law, Professor, Leading Researcher of the Department of International Law and European Union Law of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine Nataliya Kaminska, management of the National Agency of Ukraine on (Agency for Tracing and Asset Management), law firms, etc.

Nataliya Kaminska, Doctor of Law, Professor, Leading Researcher at the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine, drew attention to a problem that is rarely raised publicly: Ukraine's refusal to ratify a number of international acts is often explained by the fact that these documents may pose risks for legal entities and individuals. At the same time, there is a lack of a real balance between national interests and private rights, as well as proper communication between scientists, lawyers, and legislators.

As the moderator of the event - Vice President of the Ukrainian Bar Association, Chairman of the AAU Committee on Judicial Practice, Managing Partner of EQUITY, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Research Fellow at the Department of International Law and European Union Law of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine Oleg Malinevsky noted, — «on the one hand, we must think about the security of the state, give the clearest signal to internal and external enemies that it is impossible to encroach on our country. On the other hand, — in this struggle, we must not lose ourselves, these values ​​that distinguish us from the enemy».

The participants of the event discussed the issues of sanctions vs. legal liability, abuse of sanctions, «criminal» sanctions and the presumption of innocence, foreign sanctions and international cooperation, etc.
