ULYHANETS Viktoriia Yevhenivna — Research Fellow at the Department of International Law and European Union Law, Director of the Center for African Studies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Doctor of Philosophy in International Law, Africanist.

In 2017 she graduated from the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" with a degree in "Law" and received the qualification of "Master of Laws". In the same year, she entered the postgraduate program of the Department of International Law and European Union Law of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2025, she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 29 "International Relations" in the specialty 293 "International Law" on the topic: "Evolution of the African Union Judicial System: Problems of Theory and Practice".

My professional path began with the position of a Category 1 laboratory assistant in the Department of Civil, Labor and Business Law of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine, where I worked from 2015 to 2018. At the same time, I combined this work with the position of assistant at the Subsidiary Enterprise «Yurnauktsentr».

From January 2020 to January 2025, she worked as an assistant consultant to a People's Deputy of Ukraine under a fixed-term employment contract on a permanent basis. At the same time, as an assistant consultant to the Head of the Permanent Delegation in the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative, she supported the activities of this Delegation. From February to June 2025, she worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Economics and Law of the National Transport University, where she taught the discipline "International Law". Since May 2025, she has been employed as a research associate at the Department of International Law and European Union Law of the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and since September 2025 - Director of the Center for African Studies of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Has completed a significant number of certified trainings and advanced trainings from the International Committee of the Red Cross, Humanitarian Leadership Academy, USAID, INTERNEWS Ukraine, Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in particular: «Introduction to International Humanitarian Law», «NATO Principles, Values ​​and Standards», «Current Issues of International Humanitarian Law», «Ukraine on the Path to Implementing the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court»,«European integration in times of war: status, problems, challenges», «Approximation to EU legislation in Ukraine: practical aspects», «Strategic communications and parliamentary diplomacy», «Individuals Deprived of Liberty in Connection with an International Armed Conflict», «Missing Persons and the Right to Information in the Context of International Humanitarian Law».

Science interests: African Union and its judicial system, customary law and rights of African peoples, anthropology of law (field research on African peoples), history of states and law of Africa, theory of international law.

Is a full member of the African Society of International Law.
