GATSELIUK Vitalii Oleksandrovych — Senior Researcher of the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, Candidate of Law, Senior Researcher, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.
In 2002, he graduated from the Criminal Investigation Faculty of the Luhansk Academy of Internal Affairs (now — Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs); with honors.
From November 2002 to February 2007, he held the positions of associate professor, lecturer, senior lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law, head of the legal support department, and senior research fellow at the Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs.
From February 2007 to September 2014, he worked in the secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Legislative Support for Law Enforcement Activities as the chief consultant on legal and scientific support and deputy head of the secretariat.
From November 2014 to June 2023, he held the position of Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Judiciary of the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
On June 1, 2023, he was appointed a member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, and continues his scientific activities as a senior researcher in the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Judicial System of the Institute.
In 2002, he entered the post-graduate program in the specialty 12.00.08 (criminal law and criminology; criminal enforcement law) and in 2005 defended his dissertation on the topic: «Implementation of the principle of legality of the criminal law of Ukraine: general principles of the concept».
In December 2022, he was awarded the academic title of senior researcher in the specialty 081 Law.
The range of main scientific interests: includes the issues of the principles of criminal law, the criminalization of socially dangerous acts, and judicial reform.
