Main directions of scientific activity of the Department of Constitutional Law and Local Self-Government in recent years

In recent years, scientific research of the Department's staff has been devoted to the most pressing issues of this field of law, in particular:

problems of the constitutional and legal foundations of direct democracy, state power, local self-government, national security and defense;

sources of constitutional law of Ukraine; constitutional and legal relations in Ukraine;

current constitutional problems of the organization of state power in Ukraine;

features of the formation of national information relations, prospects for the development of information legislation, problems of the constitutional right to information, issues of the creation and functioning of the system of state power bodies in the information sector, іInformational aspects of the implementation of constitutional forms of direct expression of will, the use of information and communication systems in the infrastructure of the political system of Ukraine;

problems of the formation and development of financial law in general and its individual most important institutions, budget and tax law.

Throughout its existence, the department's employees have been actively involved in legislative work, namely, a number of draft laws on constitutional law and local self-government have been prepared, in the development of concepts, doctrines, strategies, state (departmental) programs and regulatory legal acts in the field of national security and defense, at the request of legislative initiative subjects, a scientific and legal examination of draft laws is carried out.

The Department regularly discusses current issues of constitutional law and local self-government, the organization and activities of public authorities in Ukraine, the legal foundations of constitutional reform and local self-government reform, and holds all-Ukrainian and international conferences.

The Department trains postgraduate students in the specialty 12.00.02 — constitutional law; municipal law.
