On May 23, 2025, the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Decentralization of Public Power in Ukraine: Achievements, Problems and Prospects" was held.

The conference was organized by the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Faculty of Law of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, and the Rzeszów School of Law and Administration (WSPIA).

The purpose of the conference was to discuss the achievements of the decentralization reform in Ukraine at the current stage, problematic issues of the organization and functioning of local self-government in the conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction of the country, as well as the prospects for municipal reform in accordance with European principles and standards.

The conference participants worked on the following thematic areas: Scientific, methodological, organizational and legal foundations of the reform of decentralization of power in Ukraine in the context of foreign experience and European integration processes; Organizational and legal support for the functioning of territorial communities, local self-government bodies and military administrations under martial law in Ukraine; Activities of public authorities to guarantee human and civil rights and freedoms in connection with Russian armed aggression (domestic and foreign experience); The role of direct democracy institutions in carrying out municipal reform (national and European dimensions); Problems of ensuring sustainable economic development of communities under martial law in the context of the decentralization reform in Ukraine.

The conference was opened by the Director of the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Vice-President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine O. V. Skrypnyuk.
