Solemn meeting dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Institute

October 8, 2024 at the Institute of State and Law named after V.M. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine held a solemn meeting dedicated to the Institute's 75th anniversary.

Thanks to benefactors and patrons, honored guests of the meeting gathered in the elegant renovated meeting hall — famous scientists of our time.

The ceremonial meeting was opened by the director of the Institute of State and Law named after V.M. Koretskyi of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, vice-president of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Olexandr Skrypniuk. In his speech, Olexandr Skrypniuk welcomed the guests — management of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine:Anatoliy Zahorodnyi, President of the National Academy of Ukraine, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Oleg Rafalskyi, vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Valery Smoliya, Academician-Secretary of the Department of History, Philosophy and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Oleksandr Bandurka, first vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; rectors of academic institutes of the system of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, system of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine; rectors of higher educational institutions of the legal profile; directors of leading scientific and educational institutes and law facultiesuniversities of Ukraine; scientists; representatives of judicial, law enforcement and other state authorities; representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

The Institute received congratulations from the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk. In the congratulatory letter, in particular, it is noted that the Institute has passed the glorious path of creation, victories and titanic work of scientists — whose names are inscribed in golden letters in the history of Ukrainian legal science.

On behalf of His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius, archpriest Father Vitaly congratulated the staff of the institute on the anniversary, who read a congratulatory address from Metropolitan Epiphanius on the occasion of the solemn event and presented Oleksandr Skrypnyuk with a jubilee medal &laquo Granting of the Tomos on Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine».

In his keynote speech, Olexandr Skrypnyuk announced the main milestones in the history of the Institute of State and Law named after V.M. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In particular, he emphasized the important role of Volodymyr Koretskyi in the establishment of the Institute. With the name of an outstanding Ukrainian jurist, a specialist in international law, international private law and the history of the state and law, one of the developers of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948,the formation of domestic jurisprudence is largely connected with the judge of the International Court of the United Nations Volodymyr Mykhailovych Koretskyi. He was the initiator of the establishment and the first director of the Institute. Today, — as Aleksandr Skrypniuk noted, — the efforts of the Institute are aimed at several strategic directions. This –carrying out fundamental and applied research, it is — carrying out legal examinations for state authorities, this is — development of scientific international cooperation in the field of state and law. The main scientific direction of activity — legal provision of state sovereignty, protection of human rights in conditions of martial law.

Invited to speak, Anatoly Zagorodniy, the president of the National Academy of Ukraine, noted that the Institute's achievements are quite significant: these include published monographs and works on international law. On behalf of the President of Ukraine, Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, congratulated the staff of the Institute on their anniversary. Iryna Mudra emphasized that today it is important when the country chooses its freedom step by step, legal institutions carry out their activities, carry out fundamental legal research in the sphere of the state and law, continued international cooperation and contributed — approximation of national legislation to EU law. "I wish the Institute to continue to be one of the leading scientific centers of Ukraine", — wished Iryna Romanivna. Iryna Mudra presented Oleksandr Skrypnyuk with a letter of thanks from the President of Ukraine on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Institute of State and Law named after V.M. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Bandurka, the first vice-president of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, an academician, an outstanding state builder, noted in his speech that the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine is closely related to the activities of the Institute. According to the academician, the Institute has something to be proud of and what tasks to set for the future.

Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, doctor of legal sciences, professor Mykola Onyshchuk noted that the Institute was addressed by various definitions: both the foundation of legal science and a powerful scientific center. "All this is true. I would also add that it is the flagship of legal science. The task of the flagship — it is to lead, to go ahead, to form priorities», — emphasized Mykola Vasyliovych.

Mamutova of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine», corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Ustymenko noted that the achievements of the Institute — generally recognized The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Constitution of Ukraine — these are the documents in the development of which scientists of the Institute participated. "Two words defining the development of legal science. This — sustainability and capacity. We demonstrated resilience in the first days of Russian aggression. But we have the capacity so that our science can develop. And here our cooperation with the Institute is significant.», — stressed Volodymyr Anatoliyovych.

The Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has its origins in the Institute of State and Law named after V.M. Koretsky, — this was noted by the rector of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, professor Yuriy Boshytskyi< in his welcome speech/strong>.
